PRESS RELEASE: Breslin Development Corp. & Colin Development Announce Plans to Renovate Premiere Shopping Center Woodbury Plaza

BRESLIN REALTY DEVELOPMENT CORP. AND COLIN DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCE PLANS TO RENOVATE PREMIERE SHOPPING CENTER WOODBURY PLAZA

Long Island Center to Complete Major Improvement this Fall

Recent Tenants Include TJ Maxx, The French Workshop, Trek Bicycles and Walk-In Dermatology

PLAINVIEW, NY – Breslin Realty Development Corp. and Colin Development LLC, two major real estate development firms, have announced plans to complete a renovation of Woodbury Plaza, a premiere shopping center located on Long Island’s Gold Coast in Plainview. The entire façade, pedestrian walkways and various storefronts of the center will be upgraded or replaced, with work expected to be completed this fall. The following tenants have recently signed leases; TJ Maxx, The French Workshop, Trek Bicycles and Walk-In Dermatology join Woodbury Plaza’s already impressive mix of upscale offerings.

The renovation of Woodbury Plaza is the largest improvement of the center since Wilbur F. Breslin and Fred Colin, purchased it in 1979, when it was formerly known as the Plainview Shopping Center. Woodbury Plaza is located at 401 South Oyster Bay Road at the corner of Woodbury Road and is one mile south of the Long Island Expressway and Northern State Parkway.

“For more than 43 years, Woodbury Plaza has played an important role in the community, serving as the primary destination for those seeking the best-of-the-best retail offerings. Our renovation of this uniquely situated center, ensures it will remain popular for another four decades and beyond,” said Fred Colin, CEO, Colin Development. “TJ Maxx, The French Workshop, Trek Bicycles and Walk-In Dermatology are some of the most exciting retailers of the moment, so the fact that they’ve decided to lease at Woodbury Plaza demonstrates not just the center’s popularity, but its longevity as well,” continued Wilbur F. Breslin, CEO & Chairman, Breslin Realty Development Corp.

When Breslin and Colin purchased Woodbury Plaza in 1979, its initial tenants included a neighborhood bakery and bicycle shop, so the addition of artisanal bakery The French Workshop and cutting-edge Trek Bicycles, is a nod to the center’s history and ability to draw strong regional and national chain stores. TJ Maxx is one of the largest off-price retailers in the U.S. with stores across the country. It offers customers an ever-fresh array of brand name apparel, home furnishings, and an expanded assortment of fine jewelry and accessories. This fall TJ Maxx will replace the 24,000 square foot anchor space formally occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond.

The lease at Woodbury Plaza is The French Workshop’s third opening and largest location to date. Occupying nearly 4,000 square feet of space it offers specialty sandwiches, pastries, breads, macarons, cakes, pies, brownies, and coffee. Trek Bicycles, the cycling retailer and manufacturer whose full line of its branded bicycles and accessories are sold in company owned stores, as well as through 1,700 independently owned bike shops across North America, recently opened in approximately 3,200 square feet of space. This is the second Long Island location for Walk-in Dermatology, which provides the best in dermatological care though same day or advance scheduling, eliminating the wait so that it is more convenient. Combining the convenience of urgent care with the same offerings provided at a dermatology office, the 3,000 square foot space offers facilities designed to meet various needs, from medical treatments to cosmetic procedures.

Over the years, Woodbury Plaza has consistently attracted major tenants. It currently features Trader Joe’s, Bath and Body Works, CVS Pharmacy, GAP, GAP Kids, Banana Republic, Men’s Wearhouse, Ann Taylor Loft, Optix, Huntington Learning Center, and Greek Xpress.
