LIBN: Growing quick-service chain to open its first Long Island restaurants
by David Winzelberg
A rapidly expanding quick-service restaurant concept is coming to Long Island.
Quickway Japanese Hibachi has leased a 2,500-square-foot restaurant space in the Republic Plaza Shopping Center at 909 Broadhollow Road in Farmingdale. The space was formerly occupied by Noodles & Company.
The chain has also leased a 1,743-square-foot space in the Parkway Plaza shopping center at 215 Glen Cove Road in Carle Place.
Founded in 2012 with its first restaurant in Gaithersburg, Md., Quickway Japanese Hibachi now has more than 50 locations in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C.
The new Long Island locations are part of the chain’s expansion into New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. The company is also planning to open two new restaurants in Brooklyn and another in the Bronx later this year.
“We’re excited to bring our cooked fresh-to-order cuisine to New York,” Bob Liang, founder and CEO of Quickway Japanese Hibachi, said in a written statement. “The area demographics and our target audience are well-aligned. We look forward to giving New Yorkers tasty, healthy food made with fresh ingredients, homemade sauces, no trans-fat, no MSG, and reduced salt.”
Quickway Japanese Hibachi is a quick-service concept in which the food is cooked to order on an open grill in full view of the customer. They offer chicken, beef, shrimp, tofu or salmon dishes, as well as choices of salads, sides, and sushi, all prepared from fresh ingredients and homemade sauces.
Russel Helbling and Ian Goldfeder of Katz & Associates and Lauren Brunner and Yi-Ting Chung from The Retail Strategy represented Quickway, while Robert Delavale served as the in-house representative for the landlord, the Breslin Organization, in the Farmingdale lease transaction and Nick Andreadis served as in-house representative for the landlord, Brixmor Property Group, in the Carle Place lease transaction.
“We’re excited to be partnering with this brand,” Helbling told LIBN. “Everyone on the Quickway team has been great to work with and we’re looking forward to expanding the brand throughout our market area.
The Quickway chain is seeking additional sites of 900 square feet to 2,000 square feet in well-anchored centers with strong visibility, high traffic counts, and convenient parking access.
Quickway Japanese Hibachi’s new Farmingdale restaurant is expected to open in June and the Carle Place location is slated to open later this year.
