Daily Voice: Lowe’s Looks To Hire 100 Employees For New Store In Area
The new Lowe’s Home Improvement store set to open this spring in Yorktown is looking for quality employees to help fill its ranks.
Lowe’s started a two-day hiring event in Yorktown on Thursday, Feb. 21 in which it interviewed and met prospective employees. They are looking everything from cashiers and stockers to customer service specialists and supervisors.
Prospective employees must first apply for their desired positions online, and if they make it to the second round, they will be interviewed by a company HR representative. Salaries will reportedly range from $13 to $30 an hour, depending on the position being applied for.
Interviews are expected to continue on Friday, Feb. 22.
When the location opens on Route 202 (Crompond Road) in April, it will become the second Lowe’s in Westchester, joining the initial store at the Ridge Hill Shopping Center in Yonkers. Lowe’s also has two stores in Rockland County, on Orangeburg and Nanuet.
The development was first announced last year, alongside three other buildings at the site.
“It’s required a lot of patience, as do all my projects, but it’s been worth the wait for the residents of the region to have a great home improvement store on the property that has become an eyesore for many years,” Wilbur Breslin, chief executive of developer Breslin Realty Development Corp., said last year. ”The Lowe’s will go in an area of Yorktown Heights with easy access to the parkway and where some other businesses have come along, including a steakhouse just down the road.”
