LIBN: New Crumbl store opening in Stony Brook

by David Winzelberg

A new Crumbl store will open in this week.

The chain, which specializes in freshly baked cookies and desserts, will open its newest location in the shopping center at 2184A Nesconset Highway at 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19.

The 1,700-square-foot Stony Brook Crumbl store is owned and operated by husband-and-wife franchisees Malay and Riddhi Patel. It is the chain’s first in and the sixth on Long Island, following stores in Port Washington, Merrick, Oceanside, Massapequa and Levittown.

“We’re truly grateful for the excitement this community has already shown, and we can’t wait to share our warm, fresh cookies with the families, students, and neighbors who make this area so special,” the Patels, who also own the Massapequa store, said in a company statement. “What first drew us to Crumbl was its commitment to quality, creativity, and constant innovation. With new flavors every week and something delicious for everyone, Crumbl is a place where families can make sweet memories together and friends can gather for a fun, feel good treat.”

The Patels will soon be opening their third Crumbl franchise in the Shops at SunVet in Holbrook.

The all-in investment to open a Crumbl franchise ranges from about $460,000 to $1.4 million. Average sales per store were $1.35 million in 2024, according to QSR Magazine.

Founded in 2017 by Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley in Logan, Utah, the privately owned has grown through franchising and has more than 1,100 stores open throughout all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico, according to a company statement. The company may be exploring a $2 billion sale, as private equity firms may be interested, Bloomberg reported earlier this year.

The Stony Brook Crumbl will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The store will be closed on Sundays.

Anthony Russo of Breslin Realty represented the Crumbl franchisees, while Ian Goldfeder of Katz & Associates represented the landlord, Serota Properties, in the Stony Brook lease transaction.
