LIBN: J. Crew to open store in Lake Grove

J. Crew has signed a long-term lease for a store in Lake Grove.

The apparel brand will occupy a 6,000-square-foot retail space in the Smith Haven Plaza shopping center at 2075 Moriches Road.

The Lake Grove store will be J. Crew’s sixth Long Island location, following others in Garden City, Manhasset, Huntington Station, Southampton and East Hampton.

The company’s off-price division, J. Crew Factory, has seven locations on Long Island, including the recently opened 6,800-square-foot store in the Mayfair Shopping Center in Commack.

J. Crew and J. Crew Factory, which offer clothing and accessories for men, women and children, are part of J. Crew Group Inc., which started out as Popular Merchandise in 1947 before being renamed J. Crew in 1983. The company also owns the Madewell brand.

Though no opening date has been announced for the new J.Crew in Lake Grove, the brand joins the soon-to-open Nordstrom Rack at the 150,000-square-foot Smith Haven Plaza, where the tenant roster includes Trader Joes, Old Navy, Athleta, Ulta Beauty, Men’s Wearhouse, Shake Shack, Chipotle Mexican Grill, GoHealth Urgent Care, Wild Fork Foods, The Paper Store, Capital One Bank, Charles Schwab and AT&T.

The J. Crew lease was a direct deal between the tenant and Smith Haven Plaza’s ownership, a partnership of Breslin Realty and Colin Development.
